Istanbul
An all-day walking tour provided the perfect, street-level introduction to the varied food scene of Istanbul and to the history, culture and geography of this fascinating and complex city, sprawled as it is across both the Asian and the European sides of the busy Bosphorus.
Ancient and modern, Christian and Muslim, progressive and reactionary, vibrant and dour, Istanbul is a place quite unlike any other I have visited.
The photographs in this collection offer, not a portrait of Istanbul - that would be presumptuous and unrealistic - but a series of impressions. Impressions, first of all, on the photographer's mind and sensibility, and then on the camera's sensor.
My photo magazine, ‘Istanbul,’ is available for order, in print and PDF. Click here to be taken to the Blurb Bookstore.
