You move through the city, and the city moves through you.
You leave your mark and the city marks you….
These photographs have no organising aim or intention. They are simply impressions - the fresh impressions, of someone who used to live here, and went away for five years to work in another country, and who has now returned and, so to speak, settled, or is busy settling.
The impressions - the photographs - are, accordingly, not so much a presentation directed at others as a they are a result - of the people, the events and festivals, the thousand shocks and surprises of a thrusting and evolving city, the expressions of habitation, of individual foibles, of life in the metropolis, that have found - wormed or charmed - their way into my consciousness and onto the memory card in my camera.
